Farm Stand opens this Friday!
The Hickories is happy to announce…
• The Stand on Lounsbury Road opens this Friday, June 6th.
It has been a long and exciting winter of preparation, and we are finally ready once again...
As it is the start of the season we will have limited hours – weekends for the first few weeks – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11-7. Directions can be found on our website: www.thehickories.org. Come taste the first pickings of this year’s harvest:
fresh strawberries
spinach
rhubarb
pac choi
spring lettuce
spinach
arugula
radishes
maple syrup and honey
Summer is almost here and as the crops starts to trickle in there is a limited supply so come early if you can.
• Lend a strong back down on the farm June 14th.
There are weeds to pull, rocks to pick, mulch to spread, and ruts to rake. Please join us as we open our fields to our neighborhood farmers - or farmers in the making. If you would like to get a first hand view of our work here and become a part of this season’s harvest, please come Saturday 9-12. All wheel barrows, garden rakes and shovels are welcome. The nature of the work basically requires volunteers to be 12 years old or older. You can make it a father’s day outing or a family work party. Feel free to bring your own picnic to enjoy in the peach orchard or hayfields when you are done.
