I just replaced the box yesterday with a new box, lining it with newspapers and fresh shavings and the bottom is already wet. The chicks have dug through the shavings, shredded the newspapers and now the cardboard bottom is visibly saturated. This probably cannot be too healthy for the chicks. Should I get a piece of plywood for the bottom of the box? I imagine though that it will start to rot in a few days if it is constantly wet. What can you suggest to keep the floor dry? Thank you!!!!
