We're having a heat wave...

...so what's the best way to ensure a consistent temperature of around 70 for the chicks when the heat is like this? We do have central air, but I'd prefer not to put it on just for our feathered friends.

As long as the temp is not prolonged under 65 or 70 the chicks will be fine from now on - they can take the heat, as long as they have plenty of shade and water. Once they have a decent set of feathers they are pretty self sufficient. Ours, once mature, get virtually no artificial heat or cooling no matter what time of year. No need for air conditioning ... truly.
