We love our new family members!

Our little ladies, Mack, Frank and Dervy (don't ask me, the whims of a 3 1/2 year old boy) are settling in well. They love the warmth of the basement and can sleep just fine with the light on....Yesterday a.m. at sunrise, I went in to check on them and they were all snuggled up together. We love our new wards and are already upset for the time when they are returned to the Hickories!

Fred Jones, the farmer I grew up with, told us not to name the animals. For pigs and cattle I think that is a pretty sound rule. But your little chicks will be layer hens so they will live here at the farm for a number of years, so I think they may be the exception to the farmer's rule.
You all have a gift for naming: Rambo the layer hen and Frank, too! Beatrix Potter is blanching to be sure! I love it.
